About Us
Hello there!
My name is Shelia Ross. I live with my husband, David, and our youngest son in a tiny little place in west Alabama called "Boligee". What an odd name, huh?
David and I are the parents of 5 children, and grandparents of 11. Our oldest grandson is 21.......and our newest additions are two little boys, age 1, born 6 days apart. One's mother and the other's father are our twins. What an exciting time that was! In between are 5 grand-daughters, ages 19, 15, 13, and two 5 year olds. Two other grandsons are 9 .....almost 10 years old......born 7 days apart! Then, the "king of the family", who is now 3 years old. We don't get to see any of them very often, but love it when we do.
We have spent the past 38 years trying to provide for our children. What we forgot to do was provide for us! Neither of us are able to hold a full-time job, due to our health, so we have gone in all different directions to make a living. We are also 50 miles from any city, so with the price of gasoline these days, it makes much more sense to eek out a living doing the things we love to do.
David and I stay very busy. We live on a small farm and have been raising AKC German Shepherds for about 14 years. We always have little puppies on the ground, it seems. I don't ship my pups because I want to know who they are going to, but will one day fix a website so you can see them. And if you happen to be in the west Alabama/east Mississippi area......who knows? You might just be looking for one!
We have gotten all into crafts. David makes the Disciples Cross(TM) necklaces. I help him a little with packaging and do the public relations. These are so neat......when we get the supplies, it is a box of nails, some wire, some leather cords, and the packaging supplies. It is amazing to me to watch David bend the nails and form them into this beautiful little necklace. We are gradually adding every color, so we will have everything in stock. This is a wonderful home-business. I have tried so many.....and lost so much money. With this, we were in profit in a matter of weeks! Home-schooling moms, stay-at-home-moms, grandmothers, college students......you might want to check it out. Although we need the sales ourselves, this is a great opportunity! Click the link on the home page to read about the business. If you just want to buy from us, though, we will welcome the sales. Keep us in mind if you need fund-raisers for your youth group, your ball-park, your favorite charity or other organization. These are really nice gifts for any occasion. With prices the way they are and the economy as it is, we have to save any way we can. We are hoping to build this to a full-time business. Please pray for us in this endeavor.
David also makes "deer-horn" necklaces. These are very pretty, if you like that kind of thing. Living in the middle of "white-tail country", we are a family of hunters. These necklaces, though, are made from sheds. I will add them to this website , as soon as we can get pictures of them.
I also paint fabrics. I paint pillow-cases, bags, and pot-holders. We just got an order today for a dozen pot-holders. Such a strange thing.......I wasn't really planning on selling them this way, but I sent one to a very dear friend as a gift and she wanted to order them for a yard-sale to benefit the Cancer Society. I also have yard-sales once per month. Several families contribute to it, so I always have something different. Besides that, I love seeing people!
Our goal is simple: we want to help other people while making a living for ourselves. We live in one of, if not the, poorest county in Alabama. So many people around here are in need of things they can't afford. That's why I love doing the yard sales. I can provide people with good, quality clothes, etc., at prices that are affordable. Who cares if they are second hand? I make sure they are clean and never sell anything that I wouldn't let my own grandchildren wear. I think people appreciate that and it is why they keep coming back. We will also be helping a man farm our land this year who is involved with a program which helps low-income families and moms with children get the vegetables that they need. After all, we have been blessed to own this farm. It makes us feel good to be able to provide the land....and some physical labor.....to help people who are really in need.
I am currently looking for stores in which to sell the necklaces. If you are a store owner or manager, and enjoy unique gifts for your store, please contact me by phone or email. I would be glad to send you a necklace so you can see them and decide if it would be right for your clientele. They seem to sell best in Christian-based stores, gift & craft stores, and specialty shops, where accessories are sold. I look forward to hearing from you!
I hope you enjoy our site and will come back often. I always appreciate input, so feel free to contact me at the phone number or email listed below. If you are interested in ordering necklaces for a group, organization, or charity, you may also contact me directly.
Have a great day!
